Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the reasons this place ended up being a quality nursing home is that it earned an A+ inspection grade. This is simply as good as it gets in this critical area. Perhaps the most significant factor we consider in determining our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Nursing homes with higher scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. While this facility had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you CMS did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

This facility also received an A+ long-term care grade, rendering it one of the few facilities to receive more than one A+ category grades. Nursing homes that receive this kind of grade in this category typically provide consistent 24/7 care to make sure residents are kept in good health. One of the statistics we considered in addition to nurse's aid hours is vaccines. This facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 95.56962 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a proven method to avoid unnecessary hospitalizations for the nursing home population. The last statistic we assessed is the facility's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this nursing home had 2.95 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Although this wasn't as strong as some of its other scores in this category, this figure can be skewed for some facilities based on the medical complexity of patients.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A-. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. When computing our nursing grades, we analyze both staffing levels and the skill levels of those nurses. This nursing home averages 0 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

The final area we graded was short-term care, where this nursing home was awarded a grade of B. While this wound up being its least impressive category rating, this is still an above average score. Short-term care grades are often employed to gauge a facility's rehabilitation services. In order to offer good rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to have higher levels of skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other licensed professionals. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last statistic we looked at in this area is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. It fared better than most nursing homes in this area with 49.2 percent of its patients returning home.
