Facility Inspections
On top of receiving a great overall grade, this place also earned top notch inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our best grades in that area, with a grade of A-. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection ratings is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this area most likely avoided the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.
Long-term Care Quality
This nursing home received a favorable long-term care score as well. We gave it one of our higher grades in that category with a grade of B+. Facilities that receive this kind of grade in this category tend to provide consistent around the clock care to make sure patients are well cared for. After assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination records. This facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which is significantly higher than the vast majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality
This nursing home also received a strong nursing score. In fact, we awarded it an above average grade of B in this area. The nursing score features a variety of subcategories. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality-based metrics and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any place the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can generally be prevented by providing better nursing care, such as employing a policy of turning patients at least once a day.
Short-term Care Quality
The final area we rated was short-term care. This facility was given a grade of C for this area. In our short-term care score, we try to create a fair barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we assess the facility's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, we weren't able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. The last metric we assessed in this category is the percentage of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that just 4.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below average.
