Facility Inspections
In addition to being a great overall grade, this facility also received A+ health inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually flawless. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is arguably more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively minor. Unfortunately, we weren't able to find deficiency data for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Long-term Care Quality
Contributing to its superb profile, this nursing home also performed well in our long-term care category. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in the category. When facilities receive a score in this range in long-term care it typically means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. One of the datapoints we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. This nursing home administered the pneumonia vaccine to 98.260864 percent of its patients. Vaccination is a proven method to minimize unnecessary deaths and hospitalizations for the aged 65 and up population. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 1.31 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes.
Nurse Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that category. We looked at the levels of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the quantity of time those nurses spent with residents, in calculating our score in this category. This nursing home provides 3.9 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is better than what is offered by most facilities. Lastly, this place also excelled in several of the quality-based metrics we assessed. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home Kentucky in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was short-term care, where this facility received a B-. Although this ended up being its least impressive category rating, this is nevertheless not a poor grade. Short-term care grades are based in part on the facility's quantity of skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a wide scope of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it offers more care from registered nurses to its residents than most facilities. The last datapoint we looked at in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that it was above average in this area with 52.1 percent of its residents returning home.
