Facility Inspections
With an overall grade this high, it should come as no surprise that this facility performed well in the area of inspections, where it received an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection grades. One critical factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some can be relatively minor. Fortunately, although this place had some minor dings on its inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G through L. This means that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was strong in the area of short-term care, where it received a score of A. Very few facilities performed better in this area. Our short-term care ratings are important for people needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad spectrum of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. One of this nursing home's strengths is registered nurse hours. We found that it offers more care from registered nurses to its residents than most facilities. Finally, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that it outperformed the vast majority of facilities in this area with 66.5 percent of its patients returning home.

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quality and quantity of nursing care. This particular nursing home provided 4.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day, which was among the highest totals we found. Lastly, this place also excelled in the quality measures we assessed. It performed as well as any nursing home Pennsylvania when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our last category, this facility also performed admirably in our long-term care category. We gave it a grade of A- in that area. This rounded out truly elite report card. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. After considering the very impressive nursing hours and other staffing provided by this nursing home, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 99.76134 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is much higher than the majority of nursing homes. Finally, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
