Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

To pair with its relatively modest overall score, we gave this facility an A- for its inspection grade. This score is far more impressive than its overall score. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively insignificant. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies shouldn't lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Additionally, we gave this facility a B in our short-term care category. This is one of our more favorable scores. In calculating these short-term care ratings, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. Unfortunately, we were not able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: D

Turning to another strength for this facility, it also received an elite nursing rating. In fact, we gave this nursing home an D. When determining a nursing home's nursing grade, we consider the amount of time nurses commit to residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

Moving on to the final category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of D for the area of long-term care. This is the nursing home's weakest category rating. For residents in need of a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility administered the vaccine to 97.47899 percent of its residents, which is higher than the average nursing home. Surprisingly, this facility was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
