Facility Inspections

Grade: B-plus

Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall score, we gave it a grade of B+ for our inspections rating. This was due to the facility receiving a decent inspection report this year. These inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these issues by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this place had a few deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple minor deficiencies are not necessarily the end of the world.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

Among this nursing home's several poor grades was its F in the area of nursing care. Our nursing score is based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We consider both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing ratings. This place performed well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

This facility ended up receiving a a very poor score in our long-term care area. It received a lowly F in this category. For long-term care residents, the primary goal is to keep patients healthy and safe. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. Fortunately, this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to 96.460175 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. It had just 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: F

The final category we assessed was short-term care. We gave it a lowly F for this category, which is an abysmal score. In computing our short-term care ratings, we assess a facility's levels of highly skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists occupational therapists and other highly skilled individuals. This rating is frequently a fair measure of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. Based on its weak grade in this category, we weren't shocked to learn this facility provided substantially fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. This facility didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 3.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.
