The Voorhees Care & Rehabilitation Center is a very-large nursing home located in Voorhees, New Jersey. Sporting an overall rating of B-, this is likely a middle of the road nursing home. While there's nothing wrong with a B-, we wanted to point out that Voorhees received a city grade of B+ so there are plenty of good options here. The best part of this place's report card was its stellar inspection rating. Inspection grades are discussed in the next section.

Facility Inspections
We want to draw your attention to the fact that this nursing home really outperformed its overall grade in the area of inspections. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it received one of our best grades in that area with a grade of A. Perhaps the most critical factor we consider in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies are found on a facility's recent inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This nursing home was hit with 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that the inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate threat to resident safety or health. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Nurse Quality
In addition, we awarded this nursing home a grade of B+ in our nursing category. This is one of our better grades. Our nursing score is primarily tied to the nursing home's nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 3.2 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Additionally, we gave this nursing home a B in our long-term care category. This is one of our better grades. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. On top of looking at the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 93.80282 percent of its residents, which is slightly below what we were hoping for. The last statistic we looked at was the nursing home's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this place had 2.18 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days.
Short-term Care Quality
The last area we analyzed is short-term care, which proved to be this facility's worst category. We gave this facility a D in this category. Naturally, this score pulled down the nursing home's overall profile a bit. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to gauge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To offer highly rated rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other highly skilled individuals. Unfortunately, this nursing home was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The last datapoint we assessed in this category is the number of residents who who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area, with just 31.6 percent of its residents returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below the national average.
