Facility Inspections

Grade: A

One of the reasons this turned out to be a quality nursing home is that it received a very impressive inspection grade. Inspections is its best category grade. In this category, we gave this facility an A. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in computing our inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies end up being relatively insignificant. Surprisingly, this place received a category L deficiency, which was unexpected given its inspection score. This is the worst possible category of deficiencies. This category means the government inspectors identified a widespread deficiency putting resident health or safety in immediate danger. Any serious deficiency is a major concern. In spite of this major red flag, other aspects of this facility's inspection report gave us some hope.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

This facility performed well in the area of short-term care. Indeed, we gave it a score of A- for that category, which is one of our most favorable scores. In our short-term care rating, we try to create a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we look at a nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this nursing home submitted information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. The last metric we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B+ for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. There are numerous factors included in this grade. Many of these subcategories reflect staffing levels. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The last area we rated is long-term care, in which this facility received a grade of B-. This turned out to be this facility's least impressive area. This is nevertheless nothing to be ashamed of. In calculating our long-term care scores, we analyze the assistance with daily living received by a facility's residents. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to 99.748116 percent of its residents. This place also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
