Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In addition to performing well in its overall grade, this facility received an excellent long-term care grade. In fact, we gave it a grade of A in that category. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 84.07643 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be slightly below what we were hoping for but still a decent percentage. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, we were pleased to find nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this nursing home's impressive resume, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Fortunately, although this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This tells you that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Turning our next area, this facility was awarded an excellent short-term care score. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A in that category. Our short-term care grades are crucial for patients needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually requires additional highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this facility submitted registered nurse or physical therapist staffing data. Lastly, we considered the number of patients that ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 6.5 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last category we scored, this facility received a very strong grade of A- in our nursing category. With this score, the nursing home topped off a straight A profile. Our nursing score looks at the facility's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of licensure of the nurses as well as the quantity of hours spent with residents. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
