Long-term Care Quality
In addition to receiving a great overall grade, this nursing home received an A+ in the area of long-term care. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. Once we assessed the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the facility's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 91.6129 percent of its patients against pneumonia, which happens to be slightly below what we were hoping for but still a decent percentage. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
Facility Inspections
Adding to this nursing home's impressive resume, we gave this nursing home a grade of A for inspections. Inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with better scores in this area usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. While this nursing home had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
