Short-term Care Quality
One of the many reasons this turned out to be a great nursing home is that it received a strong short-term care grade. This proved to be its best category. In that category, we awarded this facility an impressive grade of A. In our short-term care assessment, we seek to forge a sound barometer for rehabilitation. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's levels of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final item we considered in this area is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. We found that 6.1 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This nursing home was hit with 9 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered severe. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are rare in this industry.

Nurse Quality
Adding to its impressive resume, this nursing home also excelled in our nursing category. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. The nursing grade includes a host of factors. The most heavily weighted factor is the number of hours nurses spent with patients. This facility provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This nursing home performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we graded is long-term care, in which this nursing home was awarded a grade of C. Even though this is its worst category grade, this is nevertheless not a bad grade. Long-term care grades are vital for people seeking personal care. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility vaccinated only 82.00837 percent of its patients. Nevertheless, this place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
