Registered Staff Hours
Nurse Quality
While we graded this nursing home very poorly overall, it received a somewhat respectable nursing grade this year. We gave it a C in this area. Our nursing grade includes a handful of factors, however, the main one is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily, which is not an impressive total. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures. Although this facility got dinged a bit for its nursing hours, it excelled in a few of these quality-based metrics. With fewer than five percent of its residents suffering from pressure ulcers, it did remarkably well in this statistic. This is often a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can typically be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a protocol of turning a resident more often.
Short-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home's second best category was short-term care. However, with a grade of D in this category, it still performed relatively poorly. In the category of short-term care, we endeavor to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We assess a facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. With a score in this range for this area, we were not surprised to discover this place was well below average in multiple staffing metrics we looked at. The facility provided substantially fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other nursing homes. Lastly, we looked at the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.4 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.

Facility Inspections
Unfortunately, this place received a lowly F for its inspection rating. This is a very important category. Scores in this range typically point to some red flags on the nursing home's inspection reports. When a nursing home has this poor of an inspection grade, you should look for severe deficiencies on its inspection report. Severe deficiencies indicate a risk to the well being of residents. This particular facility was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report. The only positive thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they posed a threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, we would like to point out that this facility received significant government fines amounting to over $100,000. This usually suggests that a nursing home's bad track record has been an issue for multiple years.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we assessed was long-term care. It received an F in this area, which is a rock bottom grade. If you are seeking anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care ratings. Once we finished looking at the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination records. We were pleased to learn that this nursing home vaccinates 99.52607 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home also fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
