Short-term Care Quality
One of the reasons this turned out to be a quality facility is that it received a very impressive short-term care rating. Short-term care is its best category. In that area, we gave this facility an impressive grade of A. Our short-term care grade is generally employed to judge a nursing home's performance with rehabilitation. To have highly scored rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must feature better levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we considered the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Facility Inspections
In addition, this facility received excellent health inspections in recent years. We gave them one of our better scores in that category, with a grade of A-. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this area most likely dodged the most severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This particular nursing home received 8 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a good inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.

Nurse Quality
This facility is also strong in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of B. It outperformed most nursing homes in this category. The nursing rating includes quite a few components, many of which are based on levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we analyzed was long-term care, which is this nursing home's least impressive area. Sadly, it received an F in this area, which is obviously a bit of a concern. When facilities receive a grade in this range in long-term care it generally means the facility did not perform well in our measures relating to patient care. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. We were a bit concerned this facility vaccinated a relatively low 81.11888 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had just 0.03 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best score in this category.
