Long-term Care Quality
Even though we did not give this facility a good overall grade, we actually gave it a strong grade in long-term care, where it received a B. In a long-term care environment, the primary objective is to maintain residents' quality of life and keep them safe. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 90.44369 percent of its residents. This is somewhat less than we anticipated. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, at least this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home also earned a very impressive nursing rating. In fact, this turned out to be its second best category grade. In this category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B. Nursing grades are mostly associated with a facility's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections
We wanted to draw your attention to this facility's inspection grade where it received a lowly F. This typically means we found some red flags on the government inspection reports. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a nursing home's inspection reports when it receives this bad of an inspection grade. We recommend you scrutinize the severity of those deficiencies. This nursing home was assessed 6 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate that they caused a threat to patient safety or health. Finally, we want to point out that this facility was assessed large government fines of over $100,000. This generally signifies that a facility's poor performance has been an issue for several years.
Short-term Care Quality
The next area we rated was short-term care. This nursing home was given an abysmal grade of F in that area. Our short-term care ratings are likely more meaningful for individuals needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually mandates higher levels of highly-skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing means not only nursing, but also physical and occupational therapy, as well as other forms of therapy. With a score this poor in this area, we weren't surprised to learn that this nursing home was below average in two of the key staffing areas we focus on. In fact, it supplied significantly fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than most other nursing homes. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents who returned home from this nursing home. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 4.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was well off the national average.
