Facility Inspections
In addition to being a respectable nursing home overall, this place really excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A. Few facilities performed better in this area. Inspection scores weigh a host of factors included in a facility's inspection report. One key criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Places with higher scores in this category generally have very few of these severe deficiencies. Although this place had some deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are uncommon in this industry.
Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this nursing home a strong score in long-term care. This facility received a B+ in this area, which happens to be one of our higher grades. For prospective patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care is an important category. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This facility gave the vaccine to 79.16415 percent of its residents, which is slightly below what we anticipated. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility was given its next best category score in the category of short-term care. We awarded this nursing home a C in this category, which is a respectable grade. Our short-term care ratings are critical for residents in need of rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires more highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, it does not look like this facility provided data regarding its registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. The final measure we looked at in this area is the number of residents who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that just 5.5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the last category, this nursing home didn't fare well. With a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this was this nursing home's weakest category. The nursing rating assesses several subcategories, however, the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also looked at a few quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility was above average in two of the major metrics we considered, with good scores for minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. These statistics are generally reliable indicators of the quality of nursing care provided.
