Facility Inspections
Neither this facility's overall score nor its category grades gave us much to write home about. Its best area was inspections, but even here it received a D. This is still a very poor grade. Inspection scores account for a host of factors included in a nursing home's inspection reports. Generally, you should be especially cautious when considering a nursing home with severe deficiencies on a recent inspection report. This nursing home was assessed 4 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only favorable thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest that they posed a risk to patient health or safety. Lastly, we want to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received large government fines in recent years of more than $100,000. This often suggests that a poor performance spanned several years.
Short-term Care Quality
We also would like to note that this nursing home received an F for its short-term care grade. Our short-term care grade is typically employed to judge a facility's performance with rehabilitation. To provide highly scored rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to provide higher levels of highly skilled nursing. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, speech therapists and other types of therapists. Not surprisingly, we found that this nursing home provides far less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than the average facility. The last metric we considered in this category is the number of patients that eventually returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was quite a bit below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
The third category we assessed is long-term care, where this facility was given an F. For prospective patients seeking a permanent residence rather than skilled nursing, long-term care is a very important category. One of the criteria we considered in addition to nursing hours was vaccinations. Thankfully, this nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its patients. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
Switching gears to the next area, this nursing home really did not perform well in this category either. Due to a bottom of the barrel grade of F in nursing, this is about as bad as it gets. When calculating a nursing home's nursing rating, we assess the amount of time nurses spend with residents and the level of skill of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. To pair with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this facility also did not fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of residents sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This nursing home had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average nursing home.
