Facility Inspections
While we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a fairly respectable inspection report this year. As a result, it received a decent grade in that category with a score of B-. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. In this regard, we especially look at the severity of those deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Lastly, this facility was flagged by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We prefer to avoid facilities with this designation. Please do your best to find an alternative nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
We were also pleasantly surprised to find that this facility received a solid short-term care grade in our assessment. We gave it a grade of B- in that category. With our short-term care rating, we attempt to create a meaningful gauge for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a facility's levels of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. We found that this nursing home was below average in the two key staffing areas we focus on. It supplied fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this also correlates to a lower quality of care. Lastly, we considered the number of patients that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.3 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below average.

Long-term Care Quality
As it turns out, this nursing home only earned a D for its long-term care score, which is not an impressive grade. For prospective patients looking for a permanent place to live as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of nursing care, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were optimistic to learn that this facility vaccinates 97.36842 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home also keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.04 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. Sadly, some of its other scores in this category weren't as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
The next category we assessed was nursing, which is a low point for this facility. We gave this facility a D for nursing. When calculating a nursing home's nursing grade, we consider the quantity of hours nurses spend with patients as well as the level of licensure of those nurses. This nursing home provides 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. To go along with its low totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this place also did not perform as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining major falls and pressure ulcers. This facility had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility.
