In addition to being a respectable facility overall, this place also excelled in the area of inspections, where it received an A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some end up being quite minor. This place was assessed 4 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that CMS didn't consider any of these deficiencies to be an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

This facility's second most favorable category was its long-term care score, where it was awarded a grade of B-. With our long-term care assessment, we focus on the sheer quantity of care offered by a nursing home, along with a few qualitative measures. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This nursing home provided the vaccine to a relatively low 72.76423 percent of its residents, which is somewhat concerning. The last datapoint we looked at was the nursing home's hospitalization rate. Here we found that this facility had a relatively high 3.28 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. Neither its vaccination record nor its hospitalization rate were strengths for this place in this category.

Next we looked at nursing grades, where this nursing home received an F, which is a rock bottom grade. This area was definitely not a strength for this facility. Our nursing rating focuses on the facility's nurse staffing levels. We look at both the levels of training of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with patients. This place offered just 3.2 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is not a very impressive figure. In addition to receiving below average scores for total nursing hours, this facility was less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing scores. We looked at the percent of patients suffering pressure ulcers and found that this nursing home was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.

This facility's worst area is short-term care, which is the final category we scored. Sadly, it received a lowly F for this area. Despite some respectable scores in other categories, this grade is nevertheless disappointing so we felt obligated to draw your attention to it. In computing our short-term care scores, we assess the facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This category is generally a meaningful assessment of the facility's rehabilitation services. Based on its grade in this category, we weren't stunned to discover that this facility is well below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its patients based on the figures we looked at. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that just 42.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
