Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

To pair with its favorable overall performance, we gave this nursing home a grade of A+ for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection scores. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more important than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Contributing to its profile, this nursing home also received a grade of B for its short-term care rating. This is a well above average score in this area. Short-term care grades are commonly employed to assess a facility's performance with rehabilitation. In order to have quality rehabilitation services, nursing homes generally must have higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. Skilled nursing includes registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists and other highly trained professionals. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the information this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients who ultimately returned home from this facility. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Turning to the third area, this facility also received a score of B for its long-term care rating. This is a well above average grade in this area. Facilities that excel in this category typically provide residents with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. After we finished looking at the amount of care provided by nurses, we next considered the facility's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 98.630135 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is very impressive. Pneumonia is often a life threatening health condition for nursing home patients so we prefer when a facility doesn't leave its residents vulnerable. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: C

The next area we graded was nursing. We gave this nursing home a C in this category. Nursing grades are heavily correlated with quantity of nursing care available. This place averages just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day, which is not an impressive total. Lastly, we look at quality-based metrics, such as the percentage of residents who experienced pressure ulcers and major falls. These metrics are decent indicators of the quality of nursing care.
