Facility Inspections
To pair with its decent overall score, we gave this facility a grade of A for its inspection grade. This is far better than its overall grade. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of the deficiencies is usually more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite insignificant. Amazingly, this was one of the few nursing homes in the country that had no deficiencies whatsoever on its inspection report. This is very impressive. This is certainly an excellent sign for this facility.
Short-term Care Quality
The next highest category we awarded this nursing home in any category came in the area of short-term care, where we awarded it a grade of B-. With our short-term care score, we endeavor to forge a fair gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we analyze the nursing home's scope of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its level of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The real question is whether this adversely impacted quality of care. Finally, we assessed the number of residents that returned home from this nursing home. We found that 5.9 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was actually well below average.

Long-term Care Quality
We also awarded this facility a middle of the pack grade in the area of long-term care, where we gave it a B-. In the category of long-term care, we assess the amount of care provided by a facility, rather than more sophisticated services. Once we assessed the amount of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia. This place keeps its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
The final area we looked at is nursing. It received a lowly F in this category, which is a rock bottom grade. This is certainly a significant disappointment. In determining a facility's nursing grade, we consider the number of hours nurses are caring for patients as well as the skill levels of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in calculating our nursing grades. This facility performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.
