Nurse Quality

Grade: A-minus

In addition to performing well in its overall score, this nursing home received even higher grades in the area of nursing. In fact, we gave it one of our highest grades in that category with an A-. Nursing grades are tied to levels of nurse staffing. This particular nursing home provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in terms of avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Adding to its profile, this facility also received a score of B+ for its long-term care rating. This is an above average score in this area. For prospective patients looking for a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are very important. One of the factors we considered in addition to nursing hours is vaccines. This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 43.220337 percent of its residents. While its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we like to see, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Facility Inspections

Grade: B

Another strong feature for this nursing home is that it excelled in inspections, with a grade of B in that category. Inspection scores account for several factors found on a nursing home's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we look at is the number and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with higher grades in this area usually have very few of these severe deficiencies. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Switching gears to the final category, this nursing home was given a high-end short-term care grade. This facility did not prove to have any identifiable weaknesses. Short-term care grades are meaningful for residents seeking rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically mandates more skilled nursing. This includes a vast range of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and occupational therapists, as well as other types of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final statistic we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that 5.4 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.
