Facility Inspections

Grade: A

On top of being a strong nursing home overall, this place really excelled in our inspections category, where it earned an A. Not many nursing homes fared better in this category. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining these inspection scores. One key factor is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some end up being relatively insignificant. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. We should point out that deficiency-free inspections are uncommon in this industry.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

This nursing home also received a favorable long-term care score. Indeed, we gave it an above average grade of B+ in this area. Long-term care grades in this range generally require both 24/7 care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine healthcare services. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of care provided by nurses, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 98.27586 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is an impressive figure. Pneumonia sadly is often a dangerous health condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home does not roll the dice on this issue. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B

Adding to its profile, this facility also earned a grade of B for its nursing rating. This is a well above average score in this category. Our nursing rating looks at the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. We look at both the levels of licensure of those nurses as well as the number of hours spent with residents. This particular nursing home provided 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This place performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a nursing home has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can frequently be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-minus

The final area we looked at was short-term care. We awarded it a grade of B- in this area. This is a fair grade in this area. Our short-term care grades are considered to be more critical for residents needing rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation generally requires additional skilled nursing. Skilled nursing means not just nursing, but also physical and respiratory therapy, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 4.7 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most nursing homes, closer to half of their patients are able to return home so this figure is below average.
