Although we did not rate this nursing home favorably overall, we want to point out its excellent health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A- in this category. Our inspection scores are based on many items found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are an important item to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities with severe deficiencies linked to endangerment of patients. While this nursing home had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G through L. This means that the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

One of this nursing home's more respectable category grades was in the area of long-term care. This turned out to be its second most respectable category. In that category, we gave this nursing home a grade of B-. If you are seeking services other than short-term rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each facility's long-term care scores. Once we concluded our assessment of the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination records. We were a bit bothered by the fact that this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 65.42056 percent of its residents for pneumonia. On a more positive note, this place was able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Additionally, we gave this nursing home an F in the category of short-term care. Short-term care scores are vital for patients requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation generally mandates more skilled nursing services. This includes a broad spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, as well as other forms of therapy. Considering its grade in this area, we were not surprised to learn that this place is well below average in terms of its number of registered nurse and physical therapy hours offered to its residents based on the figures we looked at. Frankly, this was about what we expected here. Finally, we considered the percentage of patients that returned home from this facility. This nursing home didn't fare well here either. In fact, we found that just 5.1 percent of this facility's residents were able to return home.

The last area we looked at was nursing. This nursing home received a bottom of the barrel grade of F in this area. Our nursing rating considers a host of factors. The most important variable is the quantity of hours nurses spent with residents. This place offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. To go along with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also did not fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in determining our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and major falls. This nursing home had more pressure ulcers and falls than the average facility. This could be a bad sign when you consider that many falls and bed sores are preventable with better nursing care. Unfortunately, these scores hurt this nursing home's nursing rating significantly.
