This nursing home provided the pneumonia vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is very impressive. The last statistic we looked at was the facility's hospitalization rate. Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home also was awarded a top-shelf short-term care grade. Indeed, this is this facility's second strongest category grade. In that area, we gave this facility a score of A. In the area of short-term care, we strive to qualify indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. This place increased its score in this area by offering more than one and a half times as many physical therapy hours than a typical facility. The last datapoint we looked at in this category is the number of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We found that it fared as well as just about any facility in Texas in this area with 72.5 percent of its patients returning home.
Facility Inspections
This facility has received near flawless health inspections in recent years. We awarded them an impressive grade of A in this category. Inspection grades take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can find more information about each of these issues by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Unfortunately, it does not appear that we have information on deficiency's for this nursing home. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the final category, this facility received a high-end nursing rating. We awarded it a grade of B+ in that category, topping off one of our more favorable profiles. The nursing grade is based on quite a few data points, however, the most important one is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This place provides an incredible 6.5 hours of nursing care per patient daily. This is far better than what is offered by most nursing homes. Lastly, this place was also above average in each of the major quality-based metrics we looked at in this category. It performed well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers.
