Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
This facility excelled in our short-term care rating, with an impressive grade of A- in this category. With our short-term care assessment, we seek to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we look at the nursing home's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. We were not able to locate information on registered nurse or physical therapy staffing for this nursing home. Lastly, we considered the percentage of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 6.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.
Nurse Quality
We also awarded this facility a favorable grade in nursing. This facility earned a grade of B in this category, which is one of our better grades. Our nursing grade is mostly associated with a facility's nurse staffing. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This facility performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a facility has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can often be prevented if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Facility Inspections
This nursing home also earned a very favorable inspection score. In that area, we gave this nursing home a grade of B. Perhaps the most important factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with better grades in this area most likely dodged the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none were severe based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we looked at was long-term care, which turned out to be this nursing home's weakest category. We awarded this facility a grade of D in this area. Of course, this grade hurt the nursing home's overall grade a bit. In a long-term care environment, the nursing home's primary goal is to maintain patients' quality of life and keep them safe. After looking at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination statistics. We were pleased to find that this facility vaccinated 95.189 percent of its patients for pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.02 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
