Facility Inspections
While we were not high on this nursing home overall, we awarded it a grade of A for our inspections rating. This score is significantly more impressive than the nursing home's overall score. Our inspection ratings are based on several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Deficiencies are a key thing to look for on these inspections. Most importantly, you should avoid facilities that have severe deficiencies linked to risks to resident well being. While this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G through L. This means that the inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's next best area was short-term care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of C. Short-term care grades are typically employed to score a nursing home's rehabilitation services. To offer highly rated rehabilitation services, facilities generally need to feature higher levels of highly skilled nursing services. These types of services include registered nurses, physical therapists, respiratory therapists and other highly skilled individuals. One of this nursing home's strengths is physical therapy hours. We found that it offers at least 50% more hours with physical therapists to its residents than most other facilities. Finally, we assessed the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this facility's residents returned home. At most facilities, closer to half of their residents are able to return home so this is below average.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. When determining our nursing scores, we factor in both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of the nurses. This nursing home offered just 3 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. In addition to ranking below average in nursing hours per resident, this nursing home also had poor scores in the quality-based metrics we looked at in calculating our nursing ratings. We looked at the percent of residents experiencing major falls and pressure ulcers. This place was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in both of these datapoints. This is a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are preventable with better nursing care. These scores helped pull down this nursing home's nursing grade quite a bit.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored is long-term care, in which this facility received a very poor score in this area as well. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this category, which is obviously somewhat alarming. For prospective residents seeking a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care is an important category. In addition to looking at the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Thankfully, this facility provided the vaccine to 96.63866 percent of its residents, which is a very solid statistic. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.89 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category weren't as favorable as these.
