Nurse Quality

Grade: A-plus

To go along with its strong overall grade, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A+ for its nursing grade. When determining our nursing ratings, we analyze both nursing hours and the levels of licensure of the nurses. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections

Grade: A

Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. We weigh several aspects of a nursing home's inspection report in determining our inspection scores. One of those factors is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is usually more important than the number of deficiencies, as some deficiencies are quite minor. While this facility had a few minor dings on its inspection report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Building on its remarkable resume, this nursing home also was awarded a superb short-term care score, with a grade of A. In computing our short-term care grades, we look at the facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other highly trained professionals. This rating is often a reliable measure of the facility's rehabilitation. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, based on the information they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 5.3 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

In the last category we looked at, this nursing home was awarded a very strong grade of A- in our long-term care category. With this grade, the nursing home topped off a straight A report card. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in long-term care it is typically a good sign for resident care and indicates that the facility is well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we assessed the volume of care provided by nurses, we then analyzed the facility's vaccination statistics. This nursing home vaccinated 98.93617 percent of its residents against pneumonia, which is what we like to see. Pneumonia sadly is often a deadly health condition for nursing home patients so we like it when a nursing home doesn't take any chances. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.
