Short-term Care Quality
We want to note that this nursing home received favorable marks in our short-term care category this year. We gave them one of our better grades in that area, with a grade of B+. This proved to be the nursing home's best grade and helped its profile overall. Short-term care scores are important for individuals needing rehabilitation. Rehabilitation usually utilizes additional skilled nursing services. This includes a broad range of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other types of therapy. It does not look like this facility provided information about its staffing of registered nurses or physical therapists. Lastly, we looked at the percentage of residents who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 6.4 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Facility Inspections
This nursing home's second best category grade came in the area of government inspections. In that category, we gave this nursing home a B. It actually outperformed most facilities in this category. Arguably the most important factor we look at in determining our inspection scores is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with better scores in this category most likely avoided the more severe deficiencies involving health risks or even death. This facility received 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none were considered to be major deficiencies. This means that the government inspectors did not deem any of these deficiencies an immediate threat to patient health or safety. The fact that the deficiencies were relatively minor made us feel better about this inspection report.

Nurse Quality
One of this facility's better category grades was in the area of nursing care. In that area, we gave this facility a grade of B-. We analyzed the licensure of nurses working for the facility, in addition to the number of hours those nurses worked with residents, in computing our rating in this area. This place provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, nursing ratings also factor in quality-based assessments, such as preventing major falls. Despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this facility performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is typically a good indicator that a place has sufficient quality controls in place. Some falls could be avoided if a nursing home supplies enough nurses aids to assist its patients.
Long-term Care Quality
The next area we graded is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home a grade of C in that area. In computing our long-term care ratings, we assess the assistance with daily living received by the nursing home's patients. On top of considering the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this nursing home administered the vaccine to 99.4898 percent of its residents, which is an above average datapoint. This place was able to keep its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
