Facility Inspections
The primary reason this nursing home received a decent overall grade is its excellent inspections in recent years. We gave it one of our higher grades in that category, with an A. This is a much better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in calculating these inspection grades. One of those factors is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being relatively insignificant. Fortunately, although this facility had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are found in categories G through L. This tells you the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple of minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
This facilities second best area is short-term care. We gave it a C in this category. This is basically a middle of the road score in this area. Our short-term care ratings are believed to be more meaningful for people requiring rehabilitation services. Rehabilitation usually utilizes higher levels of highly-skilled nursing. This means not only nursing, but also physical and speech therapy, as well as other types of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its level of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its residents based on the metrics we assessed. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the percentage of residents that eventually returned home from the nursing home. We found that just 5.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home. Unfortunately, this was below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality
The third highest category we awarded this facility in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a grade of C. In determining our long-term care ratings, we assess the assistance with daily living offered to a nursing home's residents. In addition to assessing the quantity of care provided by aids and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility vaccinated 93.77162 percent of its patients. This is somewhat lower than we were hoping for but still a respectable figure. Nevertheless, this place was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low number.
Nurse Quality
This facility's weakest area was nursing, which is the final area we looked at. It received an F in this category. In spite of several acceptable scores in other areas, this grade is nevertheless of a concern so we would like to to make a note of it. Our nursing category assesses a handful of factors, most of which are associated with levels of nurse staffing. This nursing home offered just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is an alarmingly low total. To pair with its subpar totals in the area of nursing hours per patient, this nursing home also didn't fare as well in the quality-based measures we looked at in computing our nursing grades. We looked at the percentage of patients sustaining pressure ulcers and major falls. This place had more falls and pressure ulcers than the average facility. This may be a bad sign when you consider that many bed sores and falls are believed to be preventable with better nursing care. Unfortunately, these statistics pulled down this facility's nursing grade quite a bit.
