Registered Staff Hours
Short-term Care Quality
Although we gave this nursing home a terrible overall grade, we gave it a B- for short-term care. In our short-term care score, we seek to craft a meaningful barometer for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a facility's offerings of skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. In this facility's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than a typical facility. The hope is always that this does not adversely affect the quality of care. The final datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of patients that who were able to eventually return home from the nursing home. We found that just 6.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
Facility Inspections
Interestingly, this nursing home's awful overall grade can't really be attributed to its inspection reports. We gave it a C for our inspections rating. Our inspection scores account for several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we look at is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This facility was hit with 2 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were in categories G through L. This indicates that this facility avoided the more significant categories of deficiencies. Unfortunately, we also need to draw your attention to the fact that this facility received significant government fines in recent years.

Nurse Quality
This facility ended up receiving rock bottom score in our nursing category. It received an F in this category. In determining our nursing ratings, we look at both the number of hours nurses spend with residents and the training levels of the nurses. This facility provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in determining our nursing grades. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls.
Long-term Care Quality
The last area we scored is long-term care. This nursing home received a very poor grade of F in this area. Facilities that do not fare well in long-term care typically aren't as well-staffed and are lagging in some of the areas of routine healthcare services we assessed. One of the criteria we considered on top of nursing hours was vaccines. Candidly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility administered the pneumonia vaccination to only 81.03044 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility actually fared well at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
