The primary reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it earned an elite inspection score. Its inspection grade was far superior to its overall grade. In our inspections category, we gave this facility an A-. Our inspection ratings are tied to many datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area have few deficiencies on those reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this place had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. The fact that none of the deficiencies were severe made us feel better about this inspection report.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility also received an impressive score in our short-term care category. We gave this facility an above average grade of B in this category. In determining our short-term care scores, we size up the facility's levels of skilled nursing, which includes registered nurses, physical therapists speech therapists and other types of therapists. This grade is more often than not a fair assessment of a nursing home's rehabilitation. One of this nursing home's strength is that it offers more hours of physical therapy per week to its residents. Lastly, we looked at the number of residents who eventually returned home from this facility. In addition to excelling in the area of physical therapy staffing, we found that it performed as well as just about any nursing home in the country in this area with 56 percent of its residents returning home.

Long-term Care Quality
The third most favorable area we gave this nursing home in any area came in the category of long-term care, where we gave it a C. Our long-term care scores are crucial for people seeking personal care. Once we looked at the amount of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination record. This facility vaccinated 92.55319 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which is somewhat lower than we expected but still a reasonably acceptable figure. On a more positive note, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. Although it had 1.98 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, its risk adjusted statistic was better than most facilities since it had more complex patients.
Moving on to our next category, we gave this facility a D in the area of nursing. This is the facility's weakest category score. Sadly, this grade hurt the nursing home's overall grade to some degree. Our nursing rating features numerous data points. The most important one is the quantity of hours nurses spent with patients. This nursing home provides 2.8 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. On top of receiving below average marks for nursing hours, this place was a bit less impressive in some of the quality-based metrics we looked at in computing our nursing scores. We looked at the percent of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and found that this facility was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this metric.
