Facility Inspections
While we were not very complementary of this facility's overall grade, it received a very impressive inspection report this year. In fact, it received an excellent inspection report this year. As a result, it earned one of our highest scores in that category with an A. Our inspection ratings weigh several factors included in a facility's inspection reports. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. You generally want to avoid nursing homes with a list of severe deficiencies flagged. Fortunately, although this place had a few minor dings on its government inspection report, it had zero severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are those found in categories G through L. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A few minor deficiencies are not the end of the world.
Short-term Care Quality
Moving on to the area of short-term care, this nursing home was awarded a grade of just D in this category. As it turns out, this proved to be one of its better grades. In the category of short-term care, we strive to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze a facility's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and various therapists. As you might expect, we found that this facility offers substantially less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical nursing home. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents who ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this metric as well, with just 0 percent of its residents returning home.

Nurse Quality
We also wanted to point out that this nursing home received an F for its nursing grade. Our nursing grade is primarily based on the facility's nurse staffing. This place averaged just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient daily. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing scores. This nursing home performed well when it comes to minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these statistics to be measures of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Switching gears to the fourth area, this nursing home did not fare very well here either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is about as as uninspiring as it gets. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally are a bad sign for the quantity and quality of care provided by nurses and aids, as well as the levels of routine medical care available. In addition to looking at the quantity of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we also looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit worried that this nursing home administered the vaccine to only 74.47448 percent of its patients. To our surprise, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0.02 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days. This was its best feature in this category.
