Long-term Care Quality
This facility excelled in long-term care. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A for that category. This helped its overall profile. Long-term care grades of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. Once we finished looking at the volume of care provided by nurses, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 77.8125 percent of its residents for pneumonia. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we rated this nursing home so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing score. In that category, we awarded this facility an B+. The nursing score is based on several datapoints. The most heavily weighted variable is the quantity of hours nurses spend with residents. This nursing home averages 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections
It should also be noted that this facility's inspection score was strong as well. In fact, we awarded it a B for its government inspection reports, which is one of our better scores. Inspection scores take several factors into consideration, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these factors by reviewing copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. Although this facility had some deficiencies on its government inspection report, none were severe based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
Short-term Care Quality
This facility's worst area was short-term care, which is the final area we analyzed. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F for this area. Despite some respectable grades in other categories, this score is still alarming so we felt obligated to point it out. In forming these short-term care grades, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. Our purpose is to devise a measure for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. It looks like this place was below average in two of the key staffing areas we assessed. It provided fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per patient than most nursing homes. The final item we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from the facility. This facility struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.3 percent of its patients returning home.
