Facility Inspections
On top of receiving an elite overall score, this nursing home also earned an A+ inspection grade. This grade is based on its recent inspection reports. An A+ in this category is one of the highest complements we can pay to a nursing home. Arguably the most critical factor we look at in computing our inspection grades is deficiencies. Deficiencies can be found on a nursing home's inspection reports. Facilities with higher grades in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving patient abuse or death. This nursing home received 3 deficiencies on its inspection report, but fortunately none were considered to be major deficiencies. This indicates that the inspectors didn't consider any of the deficiencies to create an immediate threat to resident safety or health. Keep in mind that deficiency-free inspection reports are rare in the industry.
Long-term Care Quality
In addition, this nursing home also was given favorable long-term care grades in our assessment. In fact, we awarded them one of our more favorable scores in that category, with a score of B+. Facilities that do well in long-term care typically provide residents with more supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home administered the vaccine to 98.92183 percent of its patients, which is far higher than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this nursing home is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.03 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
The third area we assessed is short-term care. This facility was awarded a very positive short-term care grade, with a grade of B in this area. In computing our short-term care ratings, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our objective is to create a scale for sizing up the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these skilled professionals. However, based on the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The last measure we considered in this area is the percentage of patients who ultimately returned home from the facility. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the last category, this nursing home was awarded a decent nursing rating. Although this was not as strong as several of its other grades, this is still nothing to be ashamed of. Nursing ratings are based in large part on quantity of nursing care available. This nursing home provides 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, we look at quality-based metrics, such as the percent of patients who experienced pressure ulcers and major falls. Sometimes these metrics are indicators of the quality of nursing care.
