Short-term Care Quality
One of the reasons this turned out to be a great facility is that it earned a very impressive short-term care score. In that category, we gave this facility an impressive grade of A. In our short-term care assessment, we attempt to create a valuable gauge for rehabilitation services. In doing so, we assess a facility's scope of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as speech therapy. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these types of nurses. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we assessed in this area is the number of residents who were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 6.3 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home as opposed to remaining at the facility on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
Adding to this facility's impressive resume, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in computing our inspection grades. One key factor is deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the quantity of deficiencies, as some of these are relatively minor. While this nursing home had a few deficiencies on its report, none of them were major deficiencies based on CMS' deficiency scale. A couple relatively minor dings aren't necessarily something to panic about.

Nurse Quality
Another one of this facility's impressive category grades came in the area of nursing care. We awarded them one of our better scores in that area, with a grade of B+. The nursing rating consists of a handful of datapoints, but the main one is the quantity of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also looked at several nursing quality measures and this place excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any facility the nation in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can often be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as having a policy of turning patients more frequently.
Long-term Care Quality
The next category we analyzed is long-term care. We awarded this nursing home an acceptable grade in that category, with a grade of B-. Although this wasn't as strong as some of this nursing home's other scores, it is still not the end of the world. For residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to skilled nursing, long-term care grades are a key measure. After we finished looking at the quantity of nursing care, we then analyzed the nursing home's vaccination statistics. Frankly, we were a bit concerned this nursing home vaccinated a relatively low 63.235294 percent of its patients against pneumonia. On a more positive note, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. In fact, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
