Short-term Care Quality
In addition to faring well in its overall grade, this facility received high marks in our short-term care rating as well. It received our highest score in that category with a score of A+. Short-term care scores are based in part on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled nursing services. This includes a broad scope of services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this facility has registered nurses on staff. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final measure we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return home. We discovered that 7.6 percent of this facility's residents returned home.
Nurse Quality
One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it earned a very impressive nursing grade. This proved to be its second best category grade. In that category, we awarded this nursing home a grade of A-. When computing a nursing home's nursing score, we assess the amount of time nurses spend with residents as well as the level of skill of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This facility performed very well in the area of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Facility Inspections
Another impressive feature of this facility is its inspection rating. In that category, we gave this facility a score of A-. Our inspection grades weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we weigh heavily is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. Nursing homes with better grades in this area usually have few of these severe deficiencies. While this place had some minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are labeled as categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This means the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient safety or health. A couple relatively minor dings are not something to panic about.
Long-term Care Quality
The last category we analyzed was long-term care, in which this nursing home was awarded a grade of B. This actually turned out to be this facility's weakest category. A nursing home is doing something right when it's lowest score still is superior to most other nursing homes. When nursing homes receive a grade in this range in this category it generally means it has plenty of staff and is an overall good place to reside on a permanent basis. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we then looked at the nursing home's vaccination records. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Vaccines are vital to keeping residents out of the hospital. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its residents out of the hospital. In fact, it had only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
