Facility Inspections
While this place's overall grade was terrible, it performed well in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a B for that area, which is one of our better scores. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection ratings. One key factor is health deficiencies. It should be noted that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these are quite insignificant. This particular nursing home received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report. Overall, this is still a solid inspection report, but we'd always recommend looking into any deficiencies you find troubling.
Nurse Quality
Turning to the area of nursing care, this facility received a grade of just D in this category. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of its better grades. Nursing ratings are primarily based on the nursing home's level of nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality-based metrics in calculating our nursing scores. This facility fared well in terms of avoiding pressure ulcers and major falls. Many consider these datapoints to be good measures of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality
This facility's second worse score is long-term care, where it received a grade of just D in that area. This is a relatively poor grade. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in long-term care it is typically a bad sign for patient care and it may mean that the place is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. In addition to considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. As it turns out, this facility provided the vaccine to a relatively low 75 percent of its patients, which is quite a bit lower than we expected. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually decent at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.07 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days. This is its best feature in this category.
Short-term Care Quality
Switching gears to our final category, this facility really didn't fare very well in this area either. With an abysmal grade of F in short-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. In calculating these short-term care grades, we analyze the nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses, speech therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to devise a barometer for sizing up the rehabilitation services of different facilities. With its poor grade in this area, we weren't shocked to learn that this place offered far fewer registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than most nursing homes. The final metric we considered in this category is the percentage of patients that ultimately returned home from the nursing home. This nursing home struggled quite a bit in this area as well, with just 3.2 percent of its patients returning home. Unfortunately, this was well below average.
