Even though we graded this facility incredibly poorly overall, it received a decent short-term care grade this year. We gave it a B- in that area, which was the closest thing to a bright spot we found for this nursing home. In the category of short-term care, we attempt to evaluate indicators of a nursing home's rehabilitation. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. We were surprised to find that this place was below average in the two key staffing areas we assessed. In fact, it offered fewer physical therapist and registered nurse hours per resident than most other facilities. It is important to determine whether this is adversely impacting the quality of care. The last statistic we considered in this area is the number of residents who returned home from the facility. We found that just 0 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

We were also surprised to find that this facility received a decent nursing grade this year. We gave it a grade of C in that category. Our nursing grade is largely based on the facility's nurse staffing. This facility provided just 0.4 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This figure is significantly below average. Lastly, although this place got docked a bit for its nursing hours per resident, it excelled in a few of our quality measures. With less than five percent of its patients experiencing pressure ulcers, it fared very well in this metric.

Among this facility's alarming category grades was a lowly F for its inspection rating. Generally, this indicates we found some red flags on the nursing home's government inspection reports. You should pay special attention to any deficiencies on a facility's inspection reports when it receives this poor of an inspection score. We would pay close attention to the severity of those deficiencies. This particular facility was assessed 12 deficiencies by CMS. The only positive thing we found is that none of these deficiencies were in the categories that indicate they created a threat to resident health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

Turning to our last category, this nursing home really did not perform very well in this category either. Due to a poor grade of F in long-term care, this is just about as as uninspiring as it gets. Nursing homes that do not score well in long-term care often don't provide as much nursing care and also may be lagging in a few of the areas of routine medical care we looked at. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Frankly, we were a bit bothered by the fact that this facility gave the vaccine to a relatively low 50.6887 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this nursing home was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This is its best score in this category.
