Short-term Care Quality
This place earned a very favorable short-term care grade. In fact, its short-term care grade proved to be its best category. In that area, we gave this them a B+. In the area of short-term care, we seek to qualify indicators of a facility's rehabilitation services. We assess a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical and occupational therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, based on the data they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. The final statistic we considered in this category is the percentage of residents that who were able to eventually return home from the facility. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
We also awarded this nursing home a grade of B- for our inspections rating. This is a very respectable nursing score. Inspection grades account for several factors found on a facility's inspection reports. One key criteria we consider is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This place was assessed 8 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be major deficiencies. This tells you that CMS did not consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.

Nurse Quality
Next, we looked at the nursing category where we awarded this nursing home a grade of C, which is a decent grade. In calculating a nursing home's nursing rating, we consider the quantity of hours nurses are seeing residents as well as the level of skill of those nurses. This particular nursing home provided just 0.3 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This figure is far below average. Lastly, despite not having the highest total nursing hours, this nursing home performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a good indicator that a place has quality controls in place.
Long-term Care Quality
The final category we assessed was long-term care, which is this facility's weakest area. It received a lowly F in this area, which is obviously a major disappointment. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at each nursing home's long-term care scores. On top of considering the quantity of care provided by nurses and other staff, we analyzed the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility administered the vaccine to 97.89474 percent of its residents, which is an above average figure. To our surprise, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
