Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Our inspection scores are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A

On the list of its many dominant scores, this facility received a strong long-term care score. In fact, it received a score of A in that category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. It had less than one hospitalization per one thousand long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

This facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. The nursing grade includes several datapoints, however, the primary consideration is the level of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home provides 0.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, we also assessed several nursing quality-based metrics and this nursing home excelled in some of these areas. With less than five percent of its residents sustaining pressure ulcers, it performed as well as any nursing home the country in this category. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of moving a patient more often.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

Switching gears to the next category, this nursing home was given a strong short-term care rating. In fact, we awarded it an A in this category, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. Short-term care ratings are crucial for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we assessed the percentage of residents who were able to return home from this nursing home. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents were able to return home.
