One of the many reasons this place turned out to be a great nursing home is it earned an A+ in our inspections category. This is simply as good as it gets in this category. Our inspection scores are tied to several datapoints found on the a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Facilities that excel in this area have few deficiencies on their reports. Most importantly, these places generally do not have any severe deficiencies which are associated with endangerment of patients. Although this facility had a few deficiencies on its inspection report, none of them were serious based on CMS' deficiency scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

On the list of its many dominant scores, this facility received a strong long-term care score. In fact, it received a score of A in that category. Long-term care scores of this caliber generally require both around the clock care from nurses and aids, as well as quality routine medical care. On top of assessing the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the number of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. This facility provided the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents. Vaccines are vital to keeping patients out of the hospital. Finally, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. This is generally a good indicator of quality nursing care. Pressure ulcers can many times be prevented by offering better nursing care, such as by having a system of moving a patient more often.

Switching gears to the next category, this nursing home was given a strong short-term care rating. In fact, we awarded it an A in this category, resulting in this facility receiving straight A's. Short-term care ratings are crucial for residents requiring rehabilitation. Rehabilitation typically requires higher levels of skilled nursing. Skilled nursing includes a wide spectrum of nursing services, spanning from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, as well as other variations of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. On the other hand, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists.
