One of the many reasons this place received a great overall grade is that it earned an A+ short-term care grade. With our short-term care grade, we attempt to craft a valuable barometer for rehabilitation services. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's level of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as occupational therapy. This facility is the gold standard in terms of skilled nursing staffing. The facility supplied roughly 50% more registered nurse and physical therapist hours per resident than the typical facility. This is what we like to find when grading a facility in this category. Finally, we looked at the number of patients that returned home from this facility. In addition to excelling in the area of physical therapy, we found that it fared as well as just about any facility in this area with 63.9 percent of its patients returning home.

Adding to an already impressive profile, this facility also received virtually flawless health inspections in recent years. As a result, we awarded it an A+ inspection grade. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining these inspection ratings. One of those factors is deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of these deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some can be relatively insignificant. This particular nursing home had just a single deficiency on its inspection report and it was not one deemed to pose a threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

This first-rate facility also excelled in the area of nursing, where it received a grade of A+. Few nursing homes performed better in this area. The nursing rating includes quite a few datapoints, but the most important consideration is the level of nurse hours spent with patients. This particular nursing home provided 4.5 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This was one of the more impressive totals we found. In addition, we found that a significant portion of this care was provided by registered nurses, which are highly skilled nurses. These are both really impressive figures. In addition to offering impressive levels of nursing care, this place was also above average in several of the major quality measures we assessed in this category. It performed well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers.

In the final area, we awarded this nursing home an A+ for our long-term care rating. This completed a very impressive profile. For long-term care residents, the facility's primary objective is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. This facility's vaccination statistics weren't as favorable as its number of nursing hours per resident. It provided the pneumonia vaccine to just 32.608696 percent of its residents. We'd like to see some improvement herein this statistic in the future. Clearly, this facility is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.74 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.
