While we did not rate this nursing home well overall, we want to point out its decent inspections in recent years. We awarded it a relatively respectable score of B- in that area. We would argue that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of those deficiencies. While this facility had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones found in categories G, H, I, J, K and L. This tells you the inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. Finally, this facility was cited by CMS for possible abuse or neglect. We would not recommend this facility under any circumstance.

This nursing home actually received a decent grade in the area of nursing as well. We awarded it a grade of B- for that category, which is not a bad score. The nursing score weighs numerous subcategories. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spent with residents. This facility provides 0 hours of nursing care per patient on a daily basis. This is a much lower figure than we are used to seeing. Lastly, despite not having the most impressive total nursing hours per resident, this place performed admirably in the metric of preventing major falls. This is often a reliable indicator that a nursing home has quality controls in place.

This nursing home received its third best category score in the category of short-term care. We gave this facility a grade of B- in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable score. Our short-term care grades are based on the nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled skilled healthcare professionals. This includes a vast range of nursing services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and respiratory therapists, not to mention other variations of therapy. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of registered nurse and physical therapy hours provided to its residents based on the measures we assessed. The question is whether this also impacted quality of care. Finally, we considered the percentage of residents that ultimately returned home from this nursing home. We found that 38 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home. This figure was quite a bit below the national average.

Long-term Care Quality

Moving on to the last area, this nursing home was awarded a B- for long-term care, which is a respectable score. For long-term care residents, the nursing home's primary goal is to keep patients as healthy and safe as possible. This is different than skilled nursing or short-term care where the goal is to rehabilitate patients. In addition to considering the volume of care provided by aids and other staff, we also looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility gave the vaccine to 100 percent of its patients, which is a very solid total. Lastly, this place was also able to limit hospitalizations. Indeed, it had only 0 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.
