Facility Inspections
The primary reason this facility received a decent overall score is its excellent inspections in recent years. We awarded it one of our better scores in that area, with an A. This is a notably better grade than the facility's overall score, which was decent but not in the elite range. Arguably the most important factor we look at in calculating our inspection grades is deficiencies. These deficiencies are found on a nursing home's recent inspection reports. Places with higher scores in this category typically avoided the more severe deficiencies involving things like patient abuse. This nursing home was assessed 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but we were relieved to see that none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This means that the inspectors did not consider any of these deficiencies to cause an immediate threat to resident health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies should not stop you from considering a nursing home.
Short-term Care Quality
This nursing home's short-term care rating appears to be one of its better scores. The facility received a B- in this area. With our short-term care score, we strive to craft a sound measure for rehabilitation. In this process, we analyze a nursing home's offerings of highly-skilled nursing services, including both registered nurses and physical therapy, as well as respiratory therapy. In this nursing home's case, we were surprised to learn that it actually provides less physical therapist and registered nurse hours per patient than the typical facility. The last metric we looked at in this category is the percentage of residents who were able to leave the nursing home and return to the community. We discovered that just 5 percent of this facility's patients were able to return home, which is below average.

Long-term Care Quality
Unfortunately, this facility only earned a grade of D for its long-term care grade, which is not an impressive grade. For residents in need of a permanent place to live rather than skilled nursing, long-term care grades are an important measure. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we then looked at the facility's vaccination data. We were optimistic to find that this nursing home vaccinated 96.30997 percent of its residents against pneumonia. Surprisingly, this nursing home was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this facility has less hospitalizations than the majority of nursing homes. Sadly, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
Nurse Quality
The last category we graded was nursing. Sadly, it received a lowly F in this area, which is a rock bottom grade. This is obviously a major concern. The nursing rating assesses quite a few subcategories, but the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours spent with patients. This nursing home offered a meager 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is well below average. Unfortunately, this place also had abysmal marks in some of the quality-based metrics to go along with its low nursing hours. We looked at the percentage of residents experiencing pressure ulcers and we were very disappointed. This facility was at roughly 150 percent of the national average in this statistic.
