Nurse Quality
In addition to being a quality nursing home overall, this nursing home really excelled in nursing, where it received an A. Few facilities performed better in this area. We looked at the qualifications of nurses employed by the nursing home, in addition to the quantity of hours those nurses worked with patients, in computing our rating in this area. This facility provided 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Lastly, we also looked at some nursing quality measures in determining our nursing grades. This place performed very well when it comes to avoiding major falls and pressure ulcers. We consider these areas to be good indicators of the quality of nursing care.
Long-term Care Quality
Among this nursing home's other strengths is its top-shelf long-term care grade. We gave them one of our best scores in that category, with a score of A-. For prospective residents in need of a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are an important measure. After considering the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we next considered the nursing home's vaccination data. This nursing home vaccinated 88.40909 percent of its residents for pneumonia, which happens to be slightly below what we expected but still a respectable figure. Although its vaccination rate was a bit lower than we hoped for, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, which is a remarkably low figure.

Short-term Care Quality
This facility fared well in the area of short-term care also. Indeed, we awarded it a score of A- for that category, which happens to be one of our most dominant scores. In forming our short-term care grades, we look at the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The goal is to create a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of various nursing homes. Fortunately, it looks like this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not all facilities employs these types of nurses. However, according to the information this nursing home provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The last datapoint we considered in this category is the number of patients that were able to return home from the nursing home. We found that 5.2 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home as opposed to remaining at the nursing home on a permanent basis.
Facility Inspections
In the final area we looked at, we found that this facility earned a solid government inspection report this year as well, with few major dings from government inspectors. As a result, it received a decent grade in our inspection category with a B-. This facility didn't have any major weaknesses. We believe that one of the most critical factors in assessing an inspection report is deficiencies. We especially focus on the severity of the deficiencies. This nursing home was hit with 6 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none were considered to be severe deficiencies. This tells you that the government inspectors did not deem any of the deficiencies to pose an immediate risk to patient safety or health. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.
