Facility Inspections

Grade: A

To pair with its favorable overall performance, we gave this place an A for our inspections rating. We take several aspects of a facility's inspection report into consideration in determining our inspection scores. One critical factor is health deficiencies. You should keep in mind that the severity of deficiencies is arguably more meaningful than the number of deficiencies, as some of these end up being quite minor. Unfortunately, we were not able to track down deficiency counts for this nursing home. We wish we had more data for this nursing home. Without having information regarding deficiencies, it ended up being difficult to grade the place in the area of inspections.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: B-plus

Additionally, this nursing home also received favorable short-term care scores in our assessment. In fact, we gave them one of our better scores in that category, with a score of B+. In the area of short-term care, we seek to assess measures of a nursing home's rehabilitation services. We look at a nursing home's skilled nursing services, such as those performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Fortunately, it appear that this facility employs registered nurses. Not every facility employs these types of nurses. However, according to the data they provided, it does not look like the facility employs physical therapists. The final metric we considered in this category is the number of patients who were able to leave the facility and return to the community. We found that 5.1 percent of this nursing home's patients were able to return home.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: B

Additionally, this facility also was given favorable long-term care grades this year. In fact, we gave it one of our more favorable scores in that area, with a score of B. If you are looking for anything other than rehabilitation, you should take a close look at long-term care grades. In addition to assessing the amount of care provided by aids and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated for pneumonia. This nursing home vaccinated 80.299255 percent of its patients. This is a bit lower than we were hoping for but still a reasonably acceptable percentage. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it also excelled at keeping its patients out of the hospital. It had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low figure.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

The next category we analyzed was nursing. For that category, we awarded this nursing home a B-. There are numerous subcategories within this category. Most of these factors reflect the quantity and quality of nurse staffing. This facility provides only 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. This is a somewhat concerning figure which is well below average. Lastly, our nursing grades also factor in some quality-focused measures. We especially look at the percent of residents who experienced pressure ulcers and major falls. These statistics are indicators of the quality of nursing care, since better care can reduce these problems.
