This wasn't the worse place we graded, but we'd still struggle to recommend it. We wouldn't blame you if you're ready to stop reading and find another facility. However, if you want to learn more about this place's category grades, we will discuss short-term care in the next section.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A-minus

While we were not high on this nursing home's overall grade, it actually received an A- in our short-term care rating. If it weren't for this category, this facility's profile would have been even worse. In crafting these short-term care scores, we assess the nursing home's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of therapists. The objective is to formulate a scale for comparing the rehabilitation services of nursing homes. We were not able to locate information about this nursing home's registered nurse or physical therapy staffing. Finally, we looked at the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 5.6 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: B-minus

One of the other reasons we graded this facility so highly is that it received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this nursing home an B-. Our nursing rating assesses quite a few components, most of which are based on quantities of nurse staffing. This place provides only 0 hours of nursing care per resident each day. This is a somewhat uninspiring figure which is well below average. Despite having low quantities of nursing care, this facility surprisingly excelled in some of the quality measures we assessed. It scored well in terms of minimizing its residents' pressure ulcers and major falls.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: D

This facility's second least favorable score is long-term care, where it received a grade of just D in that area. This is a well below average grade. When nursing homes receive this kind of score in this category it is typically a bad sign for resident care and it may mean that the nursing home is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. Once we concluded our assessment of the amount of nursing care, we next considered the facility's vaccination data. This facility vaccinated 92.22973 percent of its residents against pneumonia. To our surprise, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than most nursing homes. This was its best score in this category.

Facility Inspections

Grade: D

Unfortunately, this nursing home did not receive a favorable inspection rating. We gave it a grade of just just D in this category. Inspection grades relate to a facility's inspection reports. We weight poor inspection grades heavily in our assessment. Since the inspections are compiled by independent inspectors, we consider this information to be very reliable. Our inspection scores account for a host of factors found on a facility's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we rely on is the quantity and severity of deficiencies. This particular facility had 2 deficiencies by government inspectors. The only positive thing we found is that none of its deficiencies were in the categories that suggest they created a risk to resident health or safety. Finally, we also want to draw your attention to the fact that this place received significant government fines amounting to over $100,000. This generally suggests that a nursing home's poor performance spanned several years.
