Facility Inspections

Grade: A-minus

While this nursing home's overall grade was not a highlight, it actually really excelled in the area of inspections. In fact, we awarded it a grade of A- for that area, which is one of our highest scores. Inspection scores weigh several factors, including deficiencies and substantiated complaints. You can find more information about each of these factors by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. This facility received 5 deficiencies on its inspection report, but none of the deficiencies were considered to be severe. This indicates that the government inspectors did not consider any of the deficiencies an imminent risk to patient safety or health. A few minor deficiencies aren't the end of the world.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: C

This facility received its next most favorable category grade in the category of short-term care. We awarded this facility a grade of C in this area, which is a reasonably acceptable score. In the area of short-term care, we seek to evaluate indicators of a facility's rehabilitation. We analyze the facility's skilled nursing services, such as the ones performed by registered nurses and physical therapists. Unfortunately, this facility was below average in terms of its quantity of physical therapy and registered nurse hours provided to its patients based on the measures we assessed. The last measure we considered in this category is the percentage of patients who were able to return home from the facility. We found that just 4.7 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.

Nurse Quality

Grade: F

We also wanted to draw your attention to this facility's poor nursing grade where it received an F. Our nursing rating is mostly based on a nursing home's nurse staffing. This facility averaged a meager 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident daily. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. Lastly, we also assessed some nursing quality-based metrics in computing our nursing ratings. This nursing home fared well in the area of minimizing its residents' major falls and pressure ulcers. Many consider these metrics to be indicators of the quality of nursing care.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: F

Switching gears to the last category, this facility really didn't fare well in this area either. Due to a rock bottom grade of F in long-term care, this is about as bad as it gets. For patients seeking a permanent residence as opposed to rehabilitation, long-term care grades are a key measure. On top of assessing the amount of care provided by nurses and other staff, we looked at the percentage of residents vaccinated against pneumonia. Fortunately, this facility administered the vaccine to 100 percent of its residents, which is an above average datapoint. Surprisingly, this facility was able to limit hospitalizations. With just 0 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, this facility had less hospitalizations than the average nursing home. Unfortunately, a few of its other scores in the category were not as favorable as these.
