Facility Inspections
The main reason this turned out to be a decent nursing home is that it received an elite inspection grade. In fact, its inspection score was far better than its overall score. In the inspections category, we gave it an A+. Our inspection scores weigh several factors found on a nursing home's inspection report. One of the most important criteria we consider is the number and severity of deficiencies. Facilities with higher scores in this category tend to have very few severe deficiencies. Fortunately, although this nursing home had a few minor dings on its report, it had no severe deficiencies. Severe deficiencies are ones labeled as categories G through L. This tells you that CMS didn't deem any of the deficiencies on this facility's report to pose an imminent threat to patient health or safety. A couple minor deficiencies should not lead you to cross a nursing home off your list.
Short-term Care Quality
In addition, we gave this facility a B in our short-term care category. This happens to be one of our better scores. In determining our short-term care ratings, we look at the facility's skilled nursing services, including those performed by registered nurses, respiratory therapists, physical therapists and other types of skilled professionals. Our purpose is to formulate a measure for comparing the rehabilitation services of different nursing homes. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home has registered nurses on staff. Not all nursing homes employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the information they provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we considered the number of patients who were able to return to the community from this nursing home. We found that 5.8 percent of this nursing home's patients returned home.

Long-term Care Quality
Sadly, this nursing home only earned a D for its long-term care rating, which is not a score to write home about. When facilities receive this type of score in long-term care it is often a bad sign for resident care and it may indicate that the facility is not as well-staffed with nurses and aids. One of the datapoints we considered after nursing hours was vaccinations. This facility provided the pneumonia vaccine to 93.843285 percent of its residents. Surprisingly, this facility was actually able to limit hospitalizations. With only 0.01 hospitalizations per one thousand long-term resident days, this nursing home had fewer hospitalizations than the average nursing home. This was its best feature in this category.
Nurse Quality
This nursing home's least impressive area is nursing, which is the last area we analyzed. Unfortunately, we gave it a lowly F in this area. Even with several acceptable grades in other categories, this grade is still alarming so we would like to to make sure you are aware. Our nursing score consists of quite a few components, but the primary consideration is the number of nurse hours per patient per week. This nursing home offered just 0.3 hours of nursing care per patient each day. This is a very low total compared to most nursing homes. This place also had abysmal scores in some of the quality-based measures to pair with its weak nursing hour totals. We looked at the percentage of patients suffering pressure ulcers and we were quite disappointed. This place was at roughly 1.5 times the national average in this measure.
