Facility Inspections

Grade: A-plus

On top of being a great nursing home overall, it also received A+ government inspections in recent years. Its inspections were virtually perfect. Inspection ratings weigh several factors, including deficiencies, substantiated complaints and federal fines. You can learn more about each of these items by obtaining copies of nursing homes' inspection reports. While this nursing home had some deficiencies on its inspection report, none were major deficiencies based on CMS' scale. Finally, this facility had no substantiated complaints this year from residents, which is an excellent sign.

Long-term Care Quality

Grade: A-plus

We also gave this nursing home a score of A+ for its long-term care grade. Facilities that do well in long-term care typically provide patients with closer supervision and stay on top of routine medical care. Once we looked at the volume of care provided by nurses aids and other staff, we turned to the nursing home's vaccination record. This nursing home vaccinated 100 percent of its patients for pneumonia, which is far higher than the majority of nursing homes. Clearly, this place is doing something right in this area as it was able to keep its patients out of the hospital. Indeed, it had only 0.01 hospitalizations per 1,000 long-term resident days, which is an impressively low number.

Nurse Quality

Grade: A

This nursing home also received a very impressive nursing grade. In that area, we awarded this facility a grade of A. Our nursing rating considers a host of subcategories. The most important factor is the amount of time nurses spent with patients. This nursing home averages 0.4 hours of nursing care per resident per day. Finally, our nursing grades also factor in quality-based assessments, such as avoiding major falls. This nursing home performed well in this area. Avoiding major falls is typically a good indicator that a place has reliable quality controls in place. Major falls can generally be avoided if more nurses aids and better safety protocols are in place.

Short-term Care Quality

Grade: A

In the final category, this nursing home also received a first-rate short-term care score, with a grade of A. This wrapped up a very strong report card. Short-term care ratings are based on a nursing home's quantity of highly-skilled highly skilled professionals. This includes a wide spectrum of services, ranging from registered nurses to physical and speech therapists, in addition to other forms of therapy. Fortunately, it appear that this nursing home employs registered nurses. Not every nursing home employs these skilled professionals. However, according to the data this nursing home provided, they do not appear to employ physical therapists. Finally, we looked at the number of residents who were able to return to the community from this facility. We found that 0 percent of this nursing home's residents returned home.
